Travelodge Hotel Juneau

After a long day of flights, I arrived at 0045 and was greeted with a smile. I was told I could have called for the shuttle, but the walk was easy, about 10 mins if that. The room was great, the water was hot, and I fell asleep instantly. In the morning they gave me a ride to pick up my rental. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and will be back again this season if I need a getaway.

My flights into Juneau were cancelled recently, so I missed my reservation at Travelodge. I booked through Priceline and asked for a refund because missing the reservation was out of my control. Priceline was willing to issue one, pending approval from Travelodge. I thought that would be an easy, obvious approval, but Travelodge denied it. I’m now filing a claim with my credit card company and am confident they’ll reimburse me. I’m extremely disappointed with Travelodge’s customer service. I’d already been hesitant to book there because of the many poor reviews, and now I’ll never book at this location or any other Travelodge again.

We stayed for the rest of our booking, but were unhappy with the experience overall and wouldn’t recommend the hotel. The requested king-size room wasn’t available at check-in, so we were given two full-size beds instead. The room was cold with the heat turned off, despite freezing temperatures outside. The bed was unexpectedly hard, and I had to ask housekeeping for extra blankets to pad the mattress. The food delivery we ordered was satisfactory, but the power went out during our meal. The outage also affected the surrounding area, including the airport. The next day, my shower water was lukewarm at best, and my husband had the same problem. When he reported it to the front desk, he was told a plumber would arrive in a couple of hours. We also found the in-room coffee maker hadn’t been cleaned properly. The hotel eventually fixed the water, but we still had fluctuating room temperatures. Staff seemed unprepared to deal with our problems promptly.

The location is good, there’s lots of parking, and it’s a quiet area. I never hear anyone in the rooms next to mine. There’s no food on site, but Uber Eats and Door Dash are available. They offer a “miners rate” for people working at one of the area’s mines. I like staying here: it’s an older property, but the rooms are large and clean, the beds are comfortable, and the staff are great and very helpful. The shuttle service is great too.
