Kaanapali Alii

We spent six nights here as a family of six: me and my wife, our boys, 12 and 5, and her retired parents. It was very family-friendly, and the time flew by. We snorkeled and saw a million fish and sea turtles, went jet skiing, hung out at the beach and pool, ate lots of good food nearby, and had quiet evenings in our luxury condo. The condo had three bedrooms and a full kitchen, with a quiet, private feel like an Airbnb but hotel-style check-in and cleaning service. The private pool area had BBQ grills, towels, hot tubs and plenty of chairs, right next to the beach. On-site boogie board and snorkel rentals were reasonably priced, parking was easy and free, and every staff member we met was friendly and chatty, with great tips on places to go and things to do. The guys at the pool hut were especially helpful. The grounds were beautiful enough that we dressed up and took family photos on our last evening. Just an awesome spot for a beach vacation.

The beach and pools were gorgeous, and we had a great time grilling fresh fish on the grills by the pool. The property was beautiful, with enough space for our family of five and lots to do close by. If we’re lucky enough to return to Maui, we’ll definitely stay here again.

Location gets a 10/10 from me. We love being able to walk to Whalers Village and all its shops. Parking is on site, but it’s tight if you have a bigger car. There’s construction constantly whenever we visit, though I guess things can’t be updated without it. Our last unit wasn’t great, but this time we picked a different one and it’s been amazing: top floor, so nobody walks above us, with a lovely view, clean rooms, comfortable beds, lots of space and great kitchen appliances. There’s a kids’ pool, a hot tub, a quiet pool and a bigger one, plus a good number of loungers. The downside is that the pool isn’t huge and there aren’t interactive things for kids to play with, like at some nearby hotels. I definitely recommend the place and like coming back.

We stayed in a spacious two-bedroom, two-bath condo with a partial ocean view and a beautiful view of the mountains. The full kitchen was a big plus, with a large fridge, oven, microwave and toaster, and it was very well stocked. They even had family board games, a fun extra. I stayed at The Westin a couple of years ago, and I liked this place far more. We had everything we needed and then some. I’d definitely recommend it.
