Kaanapali Ocean Inn

We heard the nightly luau from our room, which overlooked it, until 8pm. It wasn’t bothersome and turned into a fun little evening ritual. The room was spacious, the beds were very comfortable, and we hardly needed the air conditioning. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The whole property is beautiful, and the beaches were the best in Maui that I experienced. There’s a free trolley around the resort and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. I’d highly recommend it for a resort-style stay without high resort fees.

I was unsure after reading the reviews, but I’m so glad we booked anyway. The room had A/C, the staff were awesome, and the view was amazing. The bed was super comfy, too. For the price, it was worth every penny and I’d book it again. The balcony also stays shaded compared with the main hotel where you check in.

I chose this place for the wonderful view and location, and earlier reviews had said the beds were comfortable. That was absolutely not our experience. I didn’t sleep during the last two nights. The sheets were never changed, unless every set had holes in exactly the same spots, and the coffee cups weren’t replaced with clean ones. There was also mold growing on the bathroom ceiling. I don’t need a fancy room on vacation since we’re out doing things, but this was almost too much to bear.

For Maui, the prices are cheap, the location is great, and the staff are even sweeter. They were my favorite part. I loved chatting with them and asking for suggestions, and they always helped out. The rooms are a bit dated and don’t have A/C, so these might not suit you if you’re sensitive to heat. I loved it, though. I prefer a natural breeze, and the balconies were always a great way to start my day. Thanks, guys!
