Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa

Black Rock Beach was the favorite part of the whole trip for my kids, who are 12 and 9. They loved playing in the waves and seeing the cliff divers, humpback whales, monk seals, and sea turtles. We had been on the Big Island first, so that was quite a highlight. The Sheraton Maui was beautiful and well maintained, and the location was amazing. Food was excellent, and service was great in general. We just got home from a wonderful stay and will definitely be back.

The location is one of the best on the island, and the resort has a layout that feels a lot like Cancun, though it isn't all-inclusive. Service was good, but the rooms are dated and could use an update. The $100 food credit makes most sense at the pool bar. Breakfast was a letdown at $47 per person plus service charge. It felt like a Holiday Inn-level meal, with smoked salmon as the only real upgrade, so I didn't think it was worth the price. The location is great, but the service and food quality don't quite match what things cost.

The resort's pool is a real standout, with a shape that feels almost like a lazy river, and we had a great time there. The restaurants were very good too. Rooms are a bit dated, but still good quality. One annoyance was seeing some people who weren't staying at the resort trying to use the pool and hot tub. There's excellent snorkeling just off the beach by the cliff, though people who aren't hotel guests come to that beach as well. Whalers mall and good food options are within walking distance, and Lahaina is only a short drive away. It's a nice hotel in a great location.

The views are awesome, and you can walk to Whalers Village shopping mall for plenty of food choices. The pool was lots of fun, with a lazy river attached, and the food was good. They also had evening fire dancers, S'mores kits, and yoga on the lawn. The rooms could use a makeover, but they were clean. Staff were friendly and responsive throughout. Our housekeeper remembered our room number and made it up promptly while we were out, and the breakfast hostess remembered our name too. Impressive, considering how many guests they see. It's a unique hotel setting with a long history of Maui jet-setters.
