Americas Best Value Inn Kadoka

The bed was uncomfortable, the pillows were hard, and the water pressure was awful. I was planning to idle my truck in the freezing weather because it doesn’t handle cold starts well. The night before, at 12 degrees around 9 pm, it had barely started. Then at 10:30, another guest woke me up after the desk lady gave him my room number. He was rude, and didn’t care when I explained the problem with starting a diesel in the cold. I struggle to fall asleep and couldn’t get back to sleep for hours, so I left at 12:30, also because of that bed. When I told the desk lady it was disrespectful to give out my room number and asked for a refund as I was leaving, she said I was the disrespectful one. I was denied a refund and drove on to rapid city hoping to nap before my delivery. They don’t respect truck drivers, and I definitely won’t return.

The bathroom was basic, but the room and bathroom were clean, and the air conditioning handled 90-degree weather well. The room itself was average, though the TV was mounted about five feet up, so watching from bed or the very uncomfortable chair meant tilting my head. Wi-Fi was too weak for YouTube without buffering, and the cable lineup was limited, with worthwhile channels blocked. It seemed a little expensive, though maybe that’s the location.

The pet-friendly room was super nice and really clean when we arrived with my cat. They also called and left a message after I forgot an item, and are shipping it to my home. Stayed here last night on a cross-country drive. I’d recommend it if you need a dependable overnight stop.

We were very pleased with our stay. The room was clean and smoke-free, and although we didn’t eat there because we were in town for a family event, the food smelled good. Ti Romero at the desk was so friendly, with a lovely smile, and clearly seems to enjoy her work. She’s a real people person and goes above and beyond. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone. If I could give it ten stars, I would, but five will have to do.
