Big Island Kona Kai J2 2 Bedroom Condo

The owner's response was the worst part of an already upsetting stay. When my best friend told him about the shower, he called her and yelled that she was “trying to take advantage of him and stay somewhere for free.” He said “she could leave,” then hung up. He called twice more to berate her, saying he'd refund the days we didn't stay, and hung up again. We decided to leave as he asked, but finding another place took a whole day because most were already booked. I flew in late after a 15 hour flight, exhausted and looking forward to settling into the condo my friend had rented for us. It smelled a little musty, which I assumed was the humidity. In the bathroom, I noticed mold around the shower, cracks all over, and a cracked shower floor around the drain. I thought it might be superficial, but the floor sank when I stepped in, and I worried the crack could cut my feet, so I was very careful. It looked moldy too. My friend had arrived late and gone straight to bed. I told her about the shower the next day, and she thought the owner might not know, so she said she'd let him know. That night and the next, we were both coughing. Since it only happened in the condo, I thought the mold might be causing it. I'm so disappointed and disgusted by how David (the owner) treated us. I'd tell people to spend a little extra and think twice before booking this condo.
