Coco-nut Hale

Home away from home. The large veranda and its view make you want to get back early just to enjoy them. This time we booked the top-floor unit, which was surprisingly unavailable online. It was spacious, comfortable, nicely decorated, west-facing, and had a full-size kitchen and ocean view. It could easily fit two couples with plenty of room to spare, as long as they're sharing the bathroom. This was our second stay at the property. At the end of last year, we had a cozy ground-floor unit with a nice-sized bedroom, a good living room with the right furniture, and a small kitchen that was enough for breakfast and night snacks. Really, it was the perfect size for a week in Hawaii.

The fruit trees were lovely, but the house was extremely hot with no air conditioning, and there was so much dust. Everything seemed at least 20 years old, bedding included, and the place was dirty. We never met the owner. I had to get the internet working again by rebooting it, and the screen door had come off its track. I’d only stay here if I had no other choice. I can’t recommend it.

We ended up needing one more night on the island because of flight complications, and when other hotels were full or not helpful, the staff at coconut hale stayed up coordinating with us and made sure we had somewhere to sleep. The house is in a quiet neighborhood and has a really comfortable feel. We had the Queen room, with our own bathroom and fridge, which made it feel more like home. I wish I’d known about this place before our trip, because I would have stayed here the whole time. I’d give coconut hale six stars if I could. Thanks again, y’all are awesome.

The rooms had a strange smell that lingered even after we left the windows open for quite a while. The bathroom floor and shower were covered in hair, and I wasn’t sure the sheets had been changed. Of the three towels, one was wet, another stained, and the last smelled awful. There was rubbish all over the front yard, too. The place didn’t match the website description at all, and this just isn’t acceptable. Do not book here.
