Kona Magic Sands 306 - Studio Condo

Kona Magic Sands used to be a resort, but it's now condos owned separately by different people. Reviews can depend on the exact unit, so check the condo number against the one you're booking, or ignore reviews that don't name a unit. We stayed in #111 in mid-September 2024, loved the whole experience, and definitely recommend it.

The waves crashing on the shore made it easy to fall asleep, and from our room we saw whales, dolphins, turtles and lots of colorful fish in the waves. The ocean views keep changing, and the public beach is on both sides of the condos. A free public shuttle stops right outside and goes to KTA grocery store, Target and other favorite restaurants. Magic Sands restaurant is on the property, and there's a laundry mat there too. I can't wait to return.

We slept poorly because the thin linen curtains couldn't darken the room, so sunrise woke us up. The room was also dusty and not very clean. The accommodation had a very good location and ocean view, and having a parking spot for each room was convenient.

This place is a real gem, but it needs some TLC. The complex looks dated, the sea wall is falling apart, and all four lounge chairs are broken and in disrepair. The BBQ is falling apart too, and staff should at least clean it every so often. Several guests mentioned these problems while we were there. I see they're trying to replace board members. Spend some money and fix the little things, and this would be a really nice complex.
