Kona Tiki Hotel

We liked that this isn't a resort hotel, which is what I prefer. The staff were friendly, the room was comfortable with nice amenities, and the saltwater pool was great. From our private lanai, we enjoyed ocean views and sunsets. Free parking was a real plus, although the lot is small. Bigger rentals, like SUVs, would have a tight squeeze, but our small car was no problem. Great location and views, and I'd definitely recommend it.

The big lanai was a comfortable spot to watch surfers, since the surf was larger than normal, and we caught great sunsets and lots of whale sightings. We stayed three nights in late January. The place was quiet and comfortable, and though basic, it had everything we needed. The breeze was so good that we didn't need AC. If you want an elite resort, this probably isn't it, but if you like good people and a chill vibe, I think you'll enjoy it like we did.

We got to walk up the hill to Green Flash Coffee shop for breakfast, then drove into town for dinner at Fish Hopper and found parking. Parking at the hotel was tight, but we made it work. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and had what we needed to cook or eat out, and listening to the waves as we fell asleep was hard to beat. There isn't A/C, but with the fans and that unbeatable ocean breeze, we didn't need it. If A/C is a must for you, don't stay here and then complain about it on Google. We wish we could've stayed longer, but had to keep moving on with our adventure on the big island. An amazing experience.

The private balcony was the best part, with beautiful water views. Our room was cozy, clean, and had a comfortable bed. There was some traffic noise because we were in an end room near the street, though the waves mostly drowned it out. Watching the sunset from the pool was a nice bonus. A perfect little boutique hotel.
