La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kanab

We’d booked another hotel, then realized it wasn’t great, so we switched here. We just walked in without a reservation, and the woman at the front desk was so friendly. The rooms felt clean and welcoming, and they have a lovely breakfast and a nice lobby. Highly recommend!

The room cost over $100, and the poor cleanliness, disruption, and response from both the hotel and Wyndham were very disappointing. When I arrived, the room clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. There seemed to be something like a poop smear on the bathroom floor and on some towels, which felt completely unacceptable and honestly like a biohazard. The shower’s non-slip mat was actually more slippery than the floor itself, which was a safety concern. At 7:30 the next morning, the front desk woke me and said I had to move my truck immediately. I went out, but the people who supposedly needed the space had already moved their vehicle. Then the person involved started harassing me. I reported it to the hotel, and they said they’d speak to those people if they came back. That didn’t feel like a real solution. Wyndham customer care basically said there was nothing they could do, which was frustrating. I drive a pilot car and travel often with truck drivers, staying in hotels across the country. We usually rotate between Wyndham and Choice Hotels. Based on this, I don’t think something like this would have happened at a Choice property. My group and I will likely stick with Choice for the foreseeable future, until Wyndham gets better at handling guest issues and making sure rooms are actually clean before check-in.

The bed was warm and comfortable, and the king room had plenty of space, though another chair or a sofa would’ve been useful. The bathroom was spacious and the water hot. Breakfast was decent, with scrambled eggs and sausage, make-your-own waffles, cereal, fruit, and yogurt. Tea, coffee, and hot chocolate were available 24/7, and there was lots of parking. Check-in was easy. One drawback was the small pool and hot tub, which are outside facing the highway, even with a fence. It was cold in the evening, so we skipped them and warmed up with a hot shower instead. We were pleasantly surprised by the stay and would recommend it if you’re visiting Kanab.

I stayed here while visiting Zion, and the service was great. The room was standard and breakfast was good. Fifteen hours after checking out, I realized I’d left my keys and earphones in the room and called in the middle of the night. They said they’d check in the morning and get back to me, and I wasn’t sure they would. They found everything, called to work out how to get it to me, and shipped it to the different city I’d already returned to. Hats off to the team, and thank you so much.
