Warning, this is a long one! The resort guide was useful, especially for knowing that reception hours are limited, so plan ahead. We arrived after 11 pm and followed the website directions for checking in. It took about five minutes and went smoothly. We booked a two-bedroom through a vacation certificate and worried after reading some reviews. The place was clean overall, with just a few dusty spots and nothing out of order. We didn't find any roaches or big bugs inside, only a small spider. There were ants in the garden area, which didn't bother me since it's a garden. The air conditioner was downstairs, but the ceiling fans kept air moving upstairs. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the pool, hot tub, barbecue, washer and dryer were clean and working. Some things could use an update, sure. A few lamps were missing bulbs, there weren't many outlets for charging several devices, and the Wi-Fi was a bit unreliable. On our second-to-last day, someone came by for a pest inspection. That was a little concerning, though they didn't find anything. Maybe they're being cautious because of earlier problems. It turned out to be a great space for our family.

We could walk to several restaurants, and the ocean was right across the street. The shore there is rocky, but lovely. There was plenty of free parking, and the bed was comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed and was well equipped. The place was very clean and quiet. The air conditioning worked well, though it was a bit loud. We used the poolside barbecue for steaks and it worked great.

Aloha! Three friends and I stayed at Kahana Villa for spring break. The location was the best part for us: right across from the water and between Kapalua Bay and Ka’anapali beach. Most things on this side of the island were within a 15-minute trip. Check-in was easy even though we got in late, and the one-bedroom had decent AC, a washer and dryer, and an okay kitchen. The black bits in the ice maker when we arrived were pretty gross, though. Our room was on the first floor, in a corner beside the highway, and the bedroom windows faced the road. It was noisy at night, especially with the broken window screens letting more sound through. There were lots of bugs outside, including ants, beetles and roaches. A big gap under our front door let some into the unit. By the entry there were about 15-20 squashed beetles and other creatures. It wasn't as bad at first, but later we had to put a towel under the door to keep more out. We also found blood stains all over the sheets and blanket in the closet when we needed bedding for the pullout couch. Not a great start. It was an interesting stay, to say the least, but for the price, what more can you expect?

The pool and hot tub were clean and well kept, and the sliding doors opened onto a lovely grassy courtyard with trees. Across the street there was a beautiful beach and public park, with snorkel rentals and convenience stores just a couple of minutes away on foot. We were surprised to get such a nice place for the price. The rooms were roomy, clean and comfortable, and the kitchen was modern and had what we needed. There was a washer and dryer in the room with detergent, so no coins or cards needed. Wi-Fi was very fast. I couldn't find the official network from our room, but eventually connected to a neighboring room after figuring out their password pattern. Checkout was easy, with no big list of restrictions or cleaning tasks, just a request to take out the trash. My only complaint is that they should have hoses for rinsing sand off your feet after the beach. We loved staying here and would come back if we get the chance.

Our stay was extremely stressful and poorly managed. We arrived at 6:30 PM to find the front office closed. The instructions said to call the after-hours red phone, but nobody answered for over 20 minutes. We finally got a response almost half an hour later, and were told they were short staffed. After getting up at 3 AM for the Haleakalā sunrise, we came back exhausted to very loud drilling and construction next door. Management said they'd look into it, then never followed up, so we had to step in ourselves. The worker next door said he owned that unit and had already told Kahana Villa about the scheduled maintenance, but they still put us in the adjoining apartment. We were traveling with my 80-year-old MIL after her 13-hour flight from Philadelphia. The nonstop noise kept her from resting and raised her blood pressure. I got a severe migraine and had to cancel our evening plans. Management offered $50 instead of showing empathy. After I escalated through Booking.com, they offered to move us to a different property that required a lot of walking, which wasn't suitable for our elderly guest, so we stayed put. The Wi-Fi never worked despite repeated complaints. Do not stay here.
