Kapalua Villas Maui

The location was the only good part. Check-in was a problem and took two hours because the reservation had the wrong phone number or address for checking in. People also opened our door without knocking, then said they hadn't seen our car parked. That was unsettling.

These villas aren't 4-star accommodations. They're extremely dated. During our stay this past week, the AC didn't work, and there was a ball of hair in the tub. Housekeeping does the bare minimum. We were moved to another villa where the AC worked, but it still wasn't clean as expected: there were coffee grounds and mold in the coffee maker, the stove was dirty, the pans were old and scratched, and the tubs hadn't been scrubbed properly. The villas are in a very secluded and safe place.

We were comfortable in our apartment in one of the course side villas, and getting around was fairly convenient. The course has suffered from the lack of rain this year, so there weren't any golfers passing by to watch. The resort also has easy access to tennis courts, pickle ball, and a nearby driving range.

The area is lovely, but this stay was a mess. The villa felt really outdated: the washer smelled awful, the door was broken, and an old outdoor chair ripped when my husband sat on it. Worse, the kitchen was full of roaches coming from the oven, stove, coffee maker, dishwasher, and cabinets. I emailed and called as soon as we arrived and got no response. After we went out to eat, we came back to a strong smell because someone had sprayed insecticide throughout the kitchen, including around our food. They wouldn’t even move our belongings to the table or another spot. We asked to switch villas and heard nothing. I called repeatedly and emailed at least once every day, but they ignored me until the last day. I really wouldn’t recommend staying here.
