The water can be nearly still early in the morning, with just a few ripples, and that's a good time to snorkel over the reef patches farther out, where rocks have taken hold. I saw a turtle looking for food near the rock outcrop on the left as the high tide came in. Later in the day, or on high surf days, the waves can get rough even though the cove is partly protected. There are drop-offs from the beach into deeper water, including one about 5-8 feet out where it drops around 2 feet before getting deeper again. The sand is fairly smooth and soft, but there are rocks, so be careful if you're going in without water shoes. Turtles can sometimes be on the rocks at the left.

This is just about paddle boarding. I went early hoping for calm water, and it was calm enough, but only inside the bay. I kept going in circles to stay on my board, so the outing was only okay and wasn't worth the trip.

A nice spot to spend the day swimming, snorkeling, or just lazing around. The water is clear, and if you're lucky you'll see plenty of fish and turtles. Snorkel Bob's is only a few steps away for equipment rental. Katie at that store is the best!

There's less sand before you reach the water, but it's a nice beach. The resorts around the bay seem smaller and more quaint. The closest public bathroom seems to be at Kapalua Bay public parking, less than a mile's walk from where we were.
