Settle Inn Kaukauna

The pool was much too cold, with the room temperature in the low 60s. The water smelled bad, paint chipped off the bottom when we walked on it, and the utility room door was left wide open. Breakfast is listed as a service, but they never make it. The whole place was filthy, the service was horrible, and the beds felt like concrete. I don’t know how it still averages three stars. It should be below two by now. Please avoid.

At checkout, nobody was at the front desk. We waited nearly 10 minutes, ringing the bell, then left the key on the desk and checked out virtually. During the stay, the bathroom was always cold, with a draft coming from somewhere, and the shower pressure was so weak my garden hose is better. We booked a queen room, but the bed was full size.

Take pictures of everything here. They’ve reportedly claimed damage over minor things like a towel to get another $30-60. You WILL pay extra because the policies feel like price gouging. The staff seemed jaded and couldn’t care less where I was going or what I was doing. I’ve never felt such casual resentment from an employee. Stay here if you want to feel like a burden they’re trying to get rid of.

We were here for a bowling tournament, and I wouldn’t stay again. We had only one towel in the room, and when we finally found someone to ask for more, they wanted the dirty ones back. After we handed over one, the manager accused us of stealing towels. My daughter has kidney and bladder health issues and had an accident one night. We reported it quickly to the housekeeper, who changed the top sheets but left everything else wet. The manager then said we’d have to pay for mattress damage and move rooms. After I asked for corporate’s number, he said there’d be no extra charge. Another tournament visitor told us they saw cockroaches in their room and reported it, but the manager did nothing.
