Sam was so accommodating, and the accessible, pet-friendly room for my aging mom and her companion was huge, clean, close to the car, and had a shower chair. Our room was also larger and cleaner than I expected, with comfortable beds and a quiet night. I’d expected motel-average at best, so I was pleasantly surprised. The price is great too, especially if you’re passing through Kearney and want something affordable and clean.

The room looked fairly clean, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. I’d read reviews mentioning cockroaches and was nervous about sleeping with the lights off. I didn’t see any myself, though I can’t say they weren’t there. The security door nearest my room never worked, and the older man at the desk told me to jiggle it up and down, so they knew about the problem. I tried it several times and still had to walk around to the hotel entrance. Each time I passed the desk, he was sitting there doing nothing. That was frustrating. The coffee maker and blow dryer were both broken, and a block of cement by the window was broken too. I rang the buzzer several times when I arrived, but no one was around, and the welcome wasn’t as friendly as at most places. The hallway vending machine was just stacked with Bounce boxes and dryer sheets, no snacks at all.

The worst part was checkout. It’s listed as 11 a.m., but our keys had stopped working by 10:30 at the latest. My son and husband had gone to load the car and couldn’t get back in. We tried every key, though we hadn’t had trouble with them before. The room was just as bad. Dusty, sticky furniture and lamps, filthy carpet, and a sticky bathroom floor. We were glad we’d packed slippers. We ended up buying allergy medicine because the dust was so bad, and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was mold too. The mattress was a pillow top but upside down, so we slept on the hard side. Between that and an arthritis flare, I barely slept and the festivities suffered. It was nice to find an affordable room for the holiday weekend, but I wish my husband had read the other reviews first. The business practices were as disgusting as the rooms. Don’t make our mistake.

I woke up with bed bug bites after what I’d expected to be an affordable one-night stop on a road trip. I threw out all my clothes and luggage, and management refused to refund the night. The management, location, and parking were all terrible.
