Charming Jacuzzi-suite - Walk to Parson's Beach!

The kitchen and bathroom had been nicely redone, and the cottage was nice for what we needed on our Maine vacation. But the bed was severely lacking: a makeshift Murphy bed frame built from plywood that was quite uncomfortable. When we arrived, we saw a split unit AC and a window unit. We couldn't find the split unit remote, and learned that unit didn't work. Support insisted it did, then called the next day to say it was supposed to be fixed but wasn't. They removed the window unit and installed a different kind of AC, but left the window open. Communication was lacking. Overall, it was a nice stay, though things could be improved. Each cottage seems privately owned, so your experience may differ. This was cottage 44-1. I wish I could give it three and a half stars.

The best part was the free parking beach across the street, stunningly beautiful and now my favorite beach. Parking there is limited, but it was at most a five-minute walk from our cottage. Our stay was enjoyable, the owner was friendly and attentive, and pets are allowed. I didn't bring mine this time, but will next time because I'm definitely coming back. Thanks Sonja for a wonderful stay! The grounds were well kept with gorgeous flowers, and the pool was sparkling. Our cabin was adorable inside and out, apparently after renovations, and most cottages look redone. The two queen beds were very comfy. There was a small fridge, coffee maker, stovetop, and full bath with good water pressure. Everything worked well, and it was very clean.

The room was small, with a really small bathroom. The sink was practically on top of the toilet, and the shower was filthy. It was damp, smelled of mold, and had uneven floors. The lock was always jammed, so getting in meant fighting it and throwing yourself against the door. The photos on the website are NOT accurate. The beach is a mile walk and really not that nice. Be careful if you have small children: guests pull into the parking area off Route 9 without slowing down. There's a Keurig coffee maker in the office, but don't expect the advertised muffins or yogurts. Go camping!!

Everything felt wet, FILTHY, and moldy. The rug was dirty and wet, there was visible mold on the bathroom ceiling, and the tiny shower made it hard to wash properly. The bathroom window wouldn't open, so there was no way to dry it out. The toilet seat was broken. With my 1 year old baby there, it was horrifying to watch her on the disgusting floor and touching things. I had to hold her or keep her on the bed the whole stay. The woman at the desk was quiet and nice, but the place was just disgusting. I thought the price was reasonable, but after staying there, it wasn't worth it. Affordable isn't worth living in filth.
