Ocean Woods Resort

I needed a break and was glad to find Ocean Woods. It was a lovely off-season getaway: close to other amenities, yet quiet enough that we slept soundly. The weather suited me, though my friend found it chilly. The staff were kind and friendly, and Kathleen's husband makes the famous scones. The place could use some updating, and morning sleepers might want blackout curtains. We also went fishing, though nothing was biting. Get a day license first, it was $13 online, and do your research. You never know until you go! Kathleen, the Owner, suggested Pier 77 Restaurant, where she goes herself. Amy, Kenny and Charlene were delightful, and the staff were warm and friendly. The Salmon Tartar was delicious, as was the clam chowder, one of the best I've tasted, even though I go to the Newport Clam Festival every year. I also enjoyed the split pea soup with its nice chunks of ham. The beach is close by too. Go relax and enjoy it all.

Kathleen, the owner, is really sweet and friendly, and the free continental breakfast was great. It saved us time and money. Our room was comfortable, with a microwave and refrigerator; there was an ice machine down the hall and paperback books to borrow. The shower had fantastic water pressure. It's a short drive to the village, or about a half-mile walk to Goose Rocks beach. We visited in October, so I can't speak to the pool, though it looked nice. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

We were impressed with every part of the resort while attending a wedding there. The food was excellent, and when my wife couldn't eat the wedding meal because of her allergies, the chef promptly accommodated her needs. The rear area worked really well for the ceremony, and both the cocktail and reception spaces were nicely put together. The location was very accommodating.

We had such a good time. Goose rocks beach is beautiful and wasn't very crowded, and we could borrow wagons, towels, and chairs for the walk there. We also took the bikes out for a ride. The place felt homey and was very clean, and the staff were super friendly.
