Holiday Inn Express and Suites Kernersville South by IHG

The air units let a lot of cold air into the room because they weren’t installed right. I told staff, then had to stay a third night and checked into another room, but it had the same issue. I’d come back as a hotel, just wouldn’t choose it when a good breakfast mattered. I stayed three nights. The place seemed fairly new and was clean, and the price was good. I saved $40 by booking through Priceline while I was in the lobby. Staff were very friendly. The “Hot” breakfast was a letdown, though, especially since it was one reason I chose the hotel. The hot food was only warm and had gone cold by the time I sat down. The scrambled eggs were dry and rubbery enough to make me wonder if they were really eggs. One morning’s little egg and cheese omelettes were much better. There was bacon one day, cooked well, but I didn’t try the pork or turkey sausages on the other mornings because they didn’t look appetizing. The mini muffins weren’t good, and I wanted granola for the yogurt. The pancake machine made rubbery pancakes that were more like thick crepes.

The shower had a nice spray, and the room was comfortable and clean. It had Dove shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower, plus Dove hand wash and lotion by the sink. Nights were quiet even with a parking-lot-facing room. I arrived in Kernersville around 12:30, though check-in wasn’t until 3. I don’t usually ask, but I figured I’d try, and Carol at the front desk kindly let me check in early. The staff were friendly and helpful. A great place to stay in Kernersville, North Carolina, and I’d be happy to stay here again if I’m in the area.

I almost left when I heard the rates, but Devyn was easy to talk to and worked out a much lower price for me. She’s probably one of the best hotel staff members I’ve dealt with. Manager Tristian also helped get rooms arranged for my crew. With the hospitality they showed, I’ll stay here whenever work brings me back this way.

The room photo suggested a glass shower enclosure, but it turned out to be a regular tub and shower with a curtain. Not a huge deal, though I did feel a little misled. Otherwise, it was a clean stay at what seems like a fairly new hotel, but the experience was aggressively average.
