Hilton Grand Vacations Club Maui Bay Villas

The staff were exceptional, and I thought the resort itself was nice. The beach club was pleasant, but the food I ordered seemed frozen. We were also woken by people on the floor above us. On a tour that lasted more than two hours, they offered only tea, juice, water, and coffee. I wish there were more onsite activities, and some connection to local stores would help since there's nothing nearby or within walking distance. The grab and go should stay open longer too. I'd love to return to the area, but not to this particular property.

We were on the bottom floor of Bldg 8, and our unit seemed older. Some furniture was stained and not especially comfortable, and we had only a partial ocean view. The resort was quiet, and the pool area was exceptional without ever seeming too crowded. The staff were very accommodating and even brought us a blender when we asked. I left my pets at home, so I enjoyed the chickens and cats, who ate all our leftovers.

The property looked much nicer in person than it did in the pictures, but that was the end of the good for me. As of now, construction is expected to continue until the end of 2028, and nobody gave me advance notice. It gets noisy very early. Sound from the floor above carries so badly it feels like those guests are in your room. The family above us was noisy all night, and hotel security helped at 3 AM one night. The pool across Kihei Road is described as being “on the ocean,” but a 10-ft hedge surrounds it, so you can't see the water. Don't bother crossing over for an ocean view, use the pools nearer the property. The gate onto the path to the beach was still locked at 10:15 AM. There are no luggage carts, and thick carpet in some buildings makes suitcases hard to roll down the hall. To get a cart, you have to call a bellman, who drives a golf cart to your building, retrieves one from secure storage, and helps you. You'll need to do that again if you want help with groceries. This resort is huge, so expect lots of walking to reach the pool and main building. The commissary had nothing in stock and feels like wasted space. Maui has plenty of places to stay. I was incredibly disappointed with Hilton and wouldn't choose this one again.

The grounds and ocean sunsets are lovely, and the suite itself felt modern, comfortable, and nicely furnished. Getting around was the letdown: traffic was rough, with congestion and aggressive driving that reminded me of California. The food we tried was all decent, but none of it stood out. I also couldn't get a late checkout, even though it was meant to be the off-season. I understand the hotel was busy, but it was frustrating at resort prices. A good-looking place with great rooms, though the traffic, average meals, and lack of flexibility made it just okay for me.
