Kihei Kai Oceanfront Condominiums

The rooms had been nicely upgraded, but the building was heavily damaged in a storm, and part of it was red-tagged and uninhabitable. The location felt like the middle of nowhere, with nothing within walking distance. We had to drive 20 minutes or more to find a decent meal or a nice beach. I didn't know Maui had a bad side, but we found it here. I'd rather have saved my money and spent the week in Long Beach, where it would've been nicer and there would've at least been somewhere to eat. The beaches in front were terrible and the water was always disgusting. It's an old, run-down building with a lousy pool and no view. I've never cut a vacation short before, but I was glad to get home. It just wasn't worth the hassle.

The communication was on point, and the location was great. We had a wonderful time at Kihei Kai, especially since we got a recently renovated unit #13 with everything we needed. Not all the units have been renovated recently, though. A cute little bakery and fruit stand just minutes away were a big hit. Fresh pastries and fruit in the morning are hard to beat. We could see the ocean from the balcony and hear the waves. So peaceful, and highly recommended.

The condo (#20) suited the two of us perfectly, and it was fairly well equipped. The porch had a table for meals outside, plus chairs and an end table where we could enjoy a drink and listen to the ocean. It's described as a partial ocean view, but you can only see a sliver from one particular spot. For a full view, we took breakfast, evening appetizers, or dinner to the community tables or lawn chairs. The beach was nice, with great views, and fairly calm for swimming and floating. The central location also made it convenient to get around to any part of the island.

The beach was just a hop, skip, and a jump away, with lots of room to lie out and sunbathe, and the ocean right there for a swim whenever we wanted. A local store and farmers market were also within walking distance. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. I didn't take many pictures inside, but the condo was just perfect, with a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and everything we needed.
