We stayed in unit B211. The grounds were well kept, the pool area was really nice, and the location was great. Staff were helpful, too. The unit itself needed updating and wasn’t very clean. There was hair on the floor, our feet turned black walking on it, and a lot of surfaces were dusty. We were given just two bath towels, one washcloth, and one hand towel.
During our March 2026 family trip, a heavy kona storm caused brown mud to fill the parking lot and winds knocked out the power for almost 24 hours. Leslie and the Luana Kai staff stayed calm and helped nervous, stressed guests feel at home. They arranged heavy construction equipment and seemed to call in a few favors to clear the lot so anyone who needed to get home could leave. That response made a lasting impression on us. Luana Kai had already become our regular Maui choice, after serving three generations of my wife’s family: she visited as a child with her parents, then we came as newlyweds decades later, and this time we brought our young toddler on a long overdue family vacation. Leslie and the staff have made each visit special, and their patience and compassion during one of Maui’s heaviest kona storms in recent years only confirmed that we’ll keep coming back.
Calling this a resort is a stretch. The lobby isn’t open to interact with guests after 3pm and is closed on weekends, and the place felt like a huge waste of money. They charge an enormous cleaning fee but still expect you to take out the trash and do the dishes. The unit looks decades overdue for a remodel: thrift-store-looking furniture, living-room lamps from the 60s, confusing light switches, and three remotes just to run the TV. There are too many signs, including one complaining that reef-safe sunblock is ruining the towels. That’s a cost of doing business. What a dump and a joke.
Do not stay here. It was a horrible experience and a total waste of $1400. The place feels like a dressed-up motel pretending to be a resort, with rules everywhere and stickers and signs all over. Google reviews are getting fake.
The condo was spotless and had all the amenities we needed. Great location, and thanks for sharing your place with us.
