Mountain View Hotel

The gym is right across the street, and the hotel gives out free passes. I seriously prefer this place to the newer hotel in town. The rooms are clean, and they’ll service them when you need it. If you need something, the friendly, helpful staff will make it happen. I can’t say enough good things about mountain view.

There are thoughtful homey touches here, including a hot breakfast starting at 4 a.m., free fresh-baked cookies in the afternoon, and pizza and personal laundry service at a very reasonable price. The large, comfortable rooms also have expected basics like a fridge and microwave, and access to the aquatic center and gym next door is included. The staff are friendly, and Deborah in particular is a sweetheart. This hidden gem in Killdeer, North Dakota, puts a lot of care into keeping guests happy. Highly recommended if you’re in the area.

The front desk lady was nice, but there were too many problems for $120 a night: the floor in the room was uneven, the bathroom door wouldn’t close, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and there was no hair dryer. The shower floor was slippery, and the walls were so thin I could hear everything. I won’t stay again. Update: amount refunded.

The rooms are small, but ours worked out great for one night. After driving all day, we just wanted somewhere to rest, and the night lady was very helpful when we arrived late. The service throughout the stay was outstanding, and the experience turned out amazing, even though we weren’t sure what to expect from a small-town independent hotel. There’s a huge-looking pool and workout facility across the parking lot, shared with the city. Breakfast runs from 3 to 8 a.m., so get up early, it’s totally worth it!
