Killington Grand Hotel

The weather and snow were brutal during our stay, so the lobby was full of portable heaters. The front desk folks are beasts, and there’s a nice fireplace in the lobby. Killington mountain is close, and even with the freezing conditions, the slopes didn’t disappoint. We’ll be back. I like coming here because it’s laid back and close to the mountain. The front desk employees are attentive and nice. We couldn’t figure out the split heating system when we arrived, but maintenance came up promptly after we called. The beds are much too hard for me. The restaurant is casual, though the service felt neglected. The pool is outdoors and heated, and more people went in than you might expect.

Being so close to the slopes is a real advantage, and the location is excellent. During our stay, the staff were attentive, friendly and very kind. The hotel itself is quite old and could definitely use renovations. The only downside for me was how extremely high the food prices were in the hotel shop.

Being close enough for ski on, ski off access is wonderful and the location is convenient. The rooms, though, are subpar for what they charge. There were little repairs needed, the mattress was terrible, and the sound insulation was so bad we could easily hear our neighbor snoring. Everything felt dated, and one of the two elevators was broken. Definitely not luxury accommodations. Without that location, they couldn’t get away with such sky-high prices.

The room was clean and cozy, and we ate at Preston's both nights. The hotel itself is beautiful and well located, but the staff really made the stay. Clinton checked us in with a warm welcome and was helpful throughout. When we found there was no microwave in our room, he helped us out, since we were counting on one for a pre-race breakfast. Ocean, I think that was her name, was wonderful in the cafe and made us delicious coffees. We’d happily come back, maybe with the kids.
