The room was freezing throughout our stay. The fireplace, one of the hotel’s advertised features, couldn’t be used because the fire marshal doesn’t allow the hotel to operate it. Staff and management know this, but they keep advertising it and saying they’re “investigating.” That feels like a lie. The fireplace wasn’t properly winterized either: a thin, removable piece of wood did almost nothing to stop the cold air coming in. I bought three space heaters myself, and the room was still barely survivable. It was miserable. Sleeping was uncomfortable, relaxing was impossible, and it felt like paying premium resort prices to be trapped in a freezer. The staff knowingly misleads guests by selling a feature they aren’t legally allowed to use. That’s deceptive and disrespectful. Any roadside motel would have been better. It reflects terribly on Killington that this poorly run and misleading operation represents lodging at an otherwise wonderful ski resort. Avoid this place unless you’re willing to pay top dollar to be cold, lied to, and ignored.

At -9°F, the cold air coming through the unusable, uninsulated wood-burning fireplace made our stay extremely uncomfortable. The room had been advertised with a working fireplace. There’s also a $175 cleaning fee for two nights, even though guests are expected to clean everything themselves. The property is very old and strongly musty. It wasn’t what was advertised.

The basics were fine, and we didn’t run into anything especially gross or unreasonable, but the property is clearly aged. There were random holes in our unit’s hallway door that someone could theoretically look through, visible repairs on the outdoor balcony wall flashing, and poor insulation around the sliding door. I could feel gusts when I held my hand near the frame. We heard neighbors yelling while we first unlocked the door from the hall, but once inside our unit, we couldn’t hear them. There also seemed to be a communication mix-up with Vacasa. Our reservation listed a 4pm check-in, but at 5:30 someone had only just started cleaning and thought the unit would be empty that night. We left our bags and went out to eat while the cleaner stayed in the unit for several hours after check-in.

The location is a real plus, right by Bear Mountain and a short drive from restaurants. My room was old-school but had some charm, and the place was fairly quiet, though noise carries when people do get loud. The plumbing was questionable: water came out of the kitchen faucet in spurts, and the dishwasher didn’t work. Maybe the large-scale renovations going on in the building had something to do with it. There was no room service, since it was more of an Airbnb setup. A stereo with a CD and cassette player was a funny blast from the past, though not much use nowadays. Not bad for the money, but don’t expect a five-star stay.

The ski rental shop inside the building had great prices. The location is close to the slopes, about a 10-minute walk, and there are frequent buses. The spa was renovated in 2024 and looked better than the photos. It has a large steam sauna, two smaller saunas for four people each, and a hot tub advertised for eight but big enough for 12 or more. The pool is warm salt water, though not for swimming laps. Towels are provided, and there were lots of young kids. There’s also a recently renovated bar and restaurant, decent enough, but the food options are limited and not great. A heads-up on the buildings: only building 3 is the main one with the spa and garage, so a unit number starting with “3” means you’re there. Building 3 is old, although you’ll likely spend most of your time in your unit, which varies. All the building 3 fireplaces have been shut down since 2022.
