Clarion Inn Kingman I-40 Route 66

We only needed somewhere for the night, and the hotel fit the bill. It was quiet and clean, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was quite decent. I’ve rated it low because I accidentally left my branded weighted sleep mask in the bed, and housekeeping never turned it in. Very disappointing.

The room was fine, and the woman who checked me in was delightful. But a woman working in the breakfast room, older with dark hair and tattoos, ruined the stay for me. Breakfast ended at 9, yet she was shutting things down at 8:45. I wanted a waffle, but by 8:50 she’d taken away the batter and switched off the irons. Then I went for bacon, but the tongs were gone, so I used the ones for the biscuits. She came around the corner and yelled that I’d cross contaminated it. I told her I don’t work there and don’t know their protocols, and she yelled again that I’d cross contaminated everything. She treated me like an employee she was in charge of. I told the front desk girls, but they didn’t seem too bothered. I’m a diamond member of Choice Hotels and stay in dozens and dozens of hotels a year. That was the rudest I’ve ever been treated, and I absolutely won’t stay here next time I’m in Kingman. It’s a shame, because I actually like the hotel, the location, all of it. I just don’t want to come in contact with that woman again.

After checking into our first room, we found bugs behind the bed along the baseboard and asked to move. They accommodated us, and the guy didn’t seem surprised. The second room was even worse. At the front desk, the guy said, “we can move you one last time, but I will not be able to again per company policy”. We found the same situation in the third room, though it wasn’t as bad, so we put up with it. The thermostat didn’t seem to work, and the defective fridge wouldn’t hold temperature and dripped water. We stayed one night and won’t return.

The highway noise was noticeable. The place is older, but the rooms are modern and clean. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows.
