Madison made our first lunch here feel so welcoming. The food was fresh and delicious, and the place has such a serene, gorgeous feel to it. We’ll definitely be back.

I can only speak to eating here since I haven’t stayed overnight, but the dining experience is a must. The rooms and bar dining area have a charming, cozy feel, and there’s outdoor seating when the weather allows. Service was warm and friendly, and the menu has loads to choose from, including appetizers, salads, sandwiches, dinners, desserts, beer, and plenty of other alcoholic drinks. The food is very good, and you won’t leave hungry.

We come to Preston County once or twice a year to see relatives, take in the scenery, and get some country cooking. The Inn is in a great location, but I was very disappointed by the room and the cleanliness of the place. When we got there shortly before 8pm, nobody from the staff was around and the front door was unlocked. Our room key was left on the front desk beside a scrap of paper with our name and room number on it. Anyone could have seen that, and if I hadn’t felt comfortable in Kingwood, it would have worried me for safety reasons. The smell of pet urine in the foyer and downstairs was so awful I nearly gagged. We almost left, but went up to check the room. It had no odor and looked clean at first, though the furniture was dusty, the floor corners and spaces behind furniture were dirty, human hair was nearly clogging the sink drains, paint was peeling on the ceiling, and the bathtubs were stained. At least the beds were clean and comfortable. There was no continental breakfast or coffee the next morning as advertised, though McDonalds across the street was handy. We checked out early and again saw no staff. The doors were still unlocked, and the strong pet smell was still there. I won’t come back and would tell others visiting Preston County to find somewhere else to stay.

We only stopped in to eat, not stay. The breakfast was good, and the waiter was happy to take my suggestion and make the bacon extra crispy.

The owners and staff were absolutely delightful, and we really enjoyed staying here. It’s an old hotel, but still feels inviting, and our room and bathroom were both nice and clean. We had a drink, and the owner made us something delicious, though we never found out what it was. Dinner was fabulous too, the food was outstanding. Definitely order the french fries, they’re so good!
