Holiday Inn St Louis SW - Route 66 by IHG

The restaurant was absolutely delicious, and Anne at the takeout counter was kind and genuine, treating everyone with real courtesy. I’d recommend both the restaurant and the hotel. My room smelled like strawberries, the wooden floors were actually clean, and the bed and pillows felt fresh and comfortable. The whole property was spotless and welcoming, far beyond what I expected. I travel weekly and usually choose Hilton or Marriott, so I was skeptical about staying here, though it was close to my company's office. After my last St. Louis trip, when tiny black bugs on the bed at Hilton Frontenac made me switch rooms twice, my expectations were low. One of my staff recommended this place, and I hadn't stayed at a Holiday Inn in years. The exterior looked like a typical Holiday Inn, but cleanliness was my main concern and they exceeded every expectation. Owners, please keep the housekeeping team's cleaning consistent and thank them for making every room clean, safe, and sanitized for each guest.

We got out of the pool right at closing and were on our way out by 10:03, so we hadn't lingered. My 10-year-old daughter was waiting about five feet away while I grabbed her shoes when a staff member told her to hurry because she wouldn't want to get locked in. That comment was completely unnecessary. If something like that needs to be said, tell an adult, not a child, and don't imply you're going to lock them in. The rooms were disappointing for cleanliness. There were hairs in the tub, on the floor, and in the corners, and the bathroom needed a thorough vacuuming. The tub walls around the shampoo and conditioner dispenser needed cleaning too.

The bar and food were fantastic, and the price was just right. The staff were super friendly. Honestly, this was one of the nicest Holiday Inns we've stayed at in a long time. I'd highly recommend it.

I've traveled with Holiday Inns throughout my business career and have stayed mostly at this HI over the years. It's a nice hotel with wonderful staff, but they've cut back on basic things like in-room microwaves, hand soap, and other amenities. I hope the reductions aren't across the whole chain. Another chain just across the street provides everything, including complimentary breakfast. It's unfortunate that such a nice hotel is so chintzy about the basics. What a shame.
