Barefoot Suites

We really liked this place, and it exceeded what we expected. It's close to everything but still quiet. We usually spend a few nights at gaylord palms this time of year, but we'd rather stay here next time. Just know there's no room service, though you can get fresh towels. The laundry has washers and dryers, and detergent is provided.

We stayed for a week. The room smelled clean and was small but clean, and the back porch was the best part. It had a washer and dryer, which was nice, though it took two cycles to dry a few pieces of clothing. The beds were very hard, and we woke up sore every day. The tiny "jacuzzi tub" didn't work, and neither did the two room phones. We reported the tub to the desk. They said there was no maintenance and someone would come the next day, but no one came during our stay. There was a snake in the pool. When I told the office, they didn't seem to care and said they'd send maintenance. It was almost three hours before I saw anyone come remove it. The deck looked like it was falling apart. There were lots of turtles in the pond and a gator about 3 1/2 feet long. The gates never close, even though the place is supposed to be gated, and the office staff leave at 10 p.m. Save your money and go somewhere else.

We stayed here on vacation to visit family for the holidays. The value is unbeatable, and we'll be back. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and professional. The location is perfect for fun and shopping, with Olde Time within walking distance for amusement rides, food, and drinks. Our one-bedroom suite was spacious and ultra clean, with a clean smell, a full kitchen, a huge bathroom, and a cozy living and dining area. It had everything we needed. I loved the bright, colorful decor, and the large screened porch was super clean, with not a bug or cobweb in sight. It gave us even more room to lounge. The water temperature and pressure were perfect. The mattress could stand an update. We slept fine, but it wasn't the most comfortable. Small loads took a while to dry, and the shower drained slowly. The furniture reminded me of the set of the Golden Girls TV show, but it was in solid condition. The fridge needs an upgrade too, since it made a loud, weird noise now and then. Still, all the appliances were clean and worked, and those issues won't stop us from coming back.

The pool stayed quiet and never got crowded, and I loved spotting the deer. We also liked being right across the street from Old Town, one of our favorite places. Our room was comfortable and clean, though a little dated, and everyone was friendly. We had a really good stay and will be back.
