Golden Orchid Inn

I had to move to a nearby motel after seeing the room, even though I got some of my money back. They have a no-refund policy, but after seeing the place I couldn't stay. The rooms were dirty, dusty, smelled funky, and looked abandoned, with dented walls and what felt like a million cockroaches. The old microwave and refrigerator were outdated. Mattresses were ripped and dingy, covered only by a dirty cover, and there was just one blanket. No pillows, towels, or toiletries were provided. The door and knobs were loose and wouldn't close properly. This place is disgusting and inhumane. It shouldn't even be open. Don't even step foot in this hotel!

The room had a toaster oven, mini fridge, TV, dresser, night table, and a small table with a chair. The bathroom had a toilet and sink, with the shower and tub tucked behind a half wall. The AC worked really well, and the shower had nice hot water. At the desk, they gave me a complimentary roll of toilet paper, a bar of soap, and travel shampoo and conditioner. I paid cash and put down a $5 deposit that I got back at the end. It's spring break and my house is being tented, so I hadn't planned ahead and my options were limited. I ended up at Golden Orchid Inn. The people at the desk were very friendly while taking payment and explaining everything. Cleanliness was lacking, though. There were roaches everywhere, my feet turned black from dirt and cigarette ash, and the room smelled strongly of stale mold. It was cheap and last-minute, and I got what I paid for.

We took the key to look at the room before deciding and walked right back out. The place was more disgusting than any motel I've ever entered. The sink was just wood and falling apart, and the tile and tub were also coming apart. The walls and floors were peeling away. It looked like a crack house, nothing like the pictures on the website.

Even a cheap hotel room should have towels, washcloths, a TV remote, a trash can, clean sheets, and a blanket. None of those were there when I arrived. The rooms weren't very clean to begin with, and there was no maid service on the second day. They still charge a $50 security deposit for a single bed and $75 for a double. No matter how nice the office staff are, rooms this nasty and unacceptable are a problem. I won't stay again, and I wouldn't recommend this inn to an enemy I disliked. A refugee camp would offer more suitable accommodations. The city and state should inspect the property and consider shutting it down.
