Hibernation House

The setting was stunning, and the hotel has a lot of history. The young clerk was very professional, breakfast was nice, and there’s a small hot tub. My kids were big fans of the solid wood bunk beds. The whole resort area is worth recommending, especially since the price was half what other local hotels charged.

The location was great, and there were cubbies for drying gear. It was very quiet, with a good breakfast and friendly staff, so I’ll likely return. It did get a little hot without A/C when it was over 95 outside, but they provided a large fan, the window opened, and staff aired out the halls early in the morning. Good value!

The chef was thoughtful and kind, and even made us a special vegetarian meal without us needing to ask. Breakfast was prepared there and tasted delicious. One day we had hashbrowns, the next French toast. Beautiful location, good-sized rooms, and a very talented chef. I’d definitely recommend it.

The beds were pretty comfortable, and the rooms were okay, though they showed their age a bit and had a granny-like smell. I’d say it was fine for one night, but I wouldn’t recommend it if this is how things normally run. Breakfast was lousy. You had to take exactly one item from that day’s menu rather than help yourself. On my day it was waffles and sausages, which isn’t much use if you’re vegetarian or vegan. Each person got three small sausages and three quarters of a waffle, definitely not enough for a man, for example. The receptionist served it, and then instead of bringing it to our table, left it at a nearby table closer to the kitchen for us to fetch, even though we were only a yard away and weren’t allowed to serve ourselves. The staff seemed stressed about everything, even when people asked for coffee at breakfast or tickets at reception. They tried to be nice at first, but the service needs work.
