Magic Key (No Resort Fee)

I’m giving this place one star because I can’t give zero. I stayed less than 24 hours, for a $60 night, and they kept $200 with no explanation. I don’t smoke or do drugs. Maria at the front desk said there was no manager or supervisor for me to speak with, gave me an email address, and said I’d have to wait seven days for an explanation. She wouldn’t let me speak and eventually hung up on me. They gave us only two towels and no comforter, so it was a very cold night. The pool wasn’t open either. This was the worst experience, and I warn people not to book here. Afterward, they claimed I left damage and a smoke odor. That’s completely untrue, and I’m still in disbelief. I wish I’d taken pictures. I’m an honest person, don’t smoke, and travel often for my work as a performer-artist, staying at hotels and Airbmb around the area. I even clean up after myself, despite there being a cleaning crew. We’re respectful people and have never had anything like this happen. It’s sad they would lie to make money. They can keep my money, but I believe their false accusations and meanful intent will keep the hotel from rising or being blessed. A higher power sees everything.

I booked two nights and arrived a couple of hours early to ask about checking in. They said my room was ready but would charge me for checking in early, so I went to the amusement park and came back around 11 that night. The first room had a strong urine smell as soon as I walked in. There was actual food on the bedsheet, not just a stain, so I called the desk. A woman came up, said the smell was from their cleaning product, and offered to spray air freshener. By then it was burning my throat and sinuses. She also said no other room was available and offered to change the sheets, which wasn’t acceptable at 11:30 at night. There were empty rooms, and only after I pushed back did she agree to move us to one. The second room smelled better, so we took it, though there was hair in the beds. It was midnight and we just wanted to sleep. The room served its purpose, but there was mold on the ceiling, shower, shower knob, and curtains. After I showered, I wiped my feet with a washcloth and it came away filthy from the floor. My son and I both got sinus infections from staying there. There are lots of other good places to stay. This isn’t one of them.

We always feel safe at Magic Key Resort during our two-month winter getaway. The staff are wonderful and friendly, the rooms are clean, and the heated pool is the highlight. I’d highly recommend it for a vacation in Kissimmee, FL.

I figured a $60 hotel room might not be anything special, but the room I got in December was really nice, with updated appliances and a very comfortable bed. It was also spotless. I’ll definitely stay here again when I’m passing through Orlando.
