Silver Lake Resort

The resort had a lot going for it, including a beautiful pool with a hot tub and small kids' pool, plus volleyball and a life-size chess board by the pool. There was also basketball, tennis, a movie theater, an activity center, a game room, and daily activities, some free and some for an extra charge. The place was very clean, and checkout was easy. We stayed in a three-bedroom unit with a full kitchen, several bathrooms, and an in-room washer and dryer. The enclosed patio and ceiling fan were a nice touch. Staff were generally friendly, though a few made me feel like I was bothering them when I asked questions or needed something. We booked through my timeshare for a Disney trip. The location was convenient for the Disney parks, and Universal in Orlando was about 30 minutes away. There's a market near check-in that was handy, though overpriced. They also had several luggage carts, which not every resort does. I'd stay here again if I had the option.

We loved the condo and its kitchen, and the location worked well for shopping, restaurants, and getting to Disney. There were a few room problems, but once I let the service desk know, they were all taken care of right away. The resort was helpful, with a beautiful pool and a cabana bar and grill serving good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Happy hour was a nice extra.

The pool area is large, has lots of seating, and the bar serves good food at a fair price. The rooms have plenty of space, and the non-hotel units come with full kitchens and washers and dryers. It's a nice resort, but the unsupervised kids in the pool area were a problem. They were running around and jumping into the hot tub. Several kids, most under 10, were going in and out of it. One child, around 5 to 7, kept telling his father it was too hot. The sign says children 12 and under aren't allowed in the spa area. Staff should enforce that rule.

The location was great, and the staff were fine. If you needed something, you could call the front desk and they'd bring it to your room within a few hours. We washed our own towels, though fresh ones were available if wanted. We did our own cooking and cleaning for the week. The room itself was nice, but the sofa was really uncomfortable. We were by the back gate, so cars coming in made noise at night, and the upstairs neighbor was loud and stayed up late. The pool and hot tub were large and beautiful, and the workout room and game room were great. The lobby marketplace had just about everything, including prepared food. I had a fantastic bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and a milkshake.
