Summer Fun

The location was the bright spot. Walmart was only four minutes away, with plenty of gift shops, attractions, and shopping centers in every direction. Disney Springs was about 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic. There was also a playground beside the townhome that the kids liked. But the pool was being maintained for our entire stay over Spring Break, from 3/28-4/5 with our three kids, and only opened on 4/4. The place looked pleasant in the photos and at first glance. We arrived at 4pm and checked in, but didn't get the address and lockbox code until 4:20pm. It took four tries to open the lockbox. Inside was a decent-sized kitchen and living room, a bathroom behind the front door, and a laundry room nearby with a vacuum, mop bucket, ironing board, washer, dryer, and a few small appliances I didn't recognize. There was no broom, so for small messes I had to use the extremely cheap paper towels they provided. The toilet paper was very cheap too. The kitchen had scratched pans, one pot, two lids that didn't fit anything, and a lid without a handle. Some utensils were broken, the dishes were dirty, and there was only a half-full small bottle of dish soap, though the sponge was new. Ice cubes were frozen to the bottom of the freezer, and one toaster cancel button didn't work. I worried the toast might not pop up. For a week, we got just one garbage bag for the kitchen and each bathroom, so we had to buy more. There were five towels, presumably one per person, and a small one that we used as a floor towel. The walls had holes, scratches, scrapes, and water damage, with a taped corner at the top of the stairs. The stairs, upstairs area, and bathtubs squeaked with every movement. Each room had just one bulb working in the two wall lights, apart from the ceiling light. In the twin bedroom, the furniture had scraped the wall, the blinds were broken and taped, and every nightstand had a broken bottom shelf. The patio furniture was broken, and at least one downstairs outlet didn't work. The master bedroom AC vent was installed backwards and wouldn't open, while the master bathroom vent was left open. At checkout, we were told to take the garbage out, set the AC to 72°, and put the linens in a laundry basket. There was no basket, so we left the linens on the laundry room floor. When we stripped the beds, we found pee stains on all of them, and the master bedroom pillows were stained too.
