Super 8 by Wyndham Kissimmee-Orlando

We booked because it was cheap and near Disney, and I knew a Super 8 wouldn't be fancy. I did expect it to be clean. The couch had suspicious stains, and when we opened it there were crumbs and other debris inside. There were no spare sheets in the room, so the front desk told us to come pick some up. When I mentioned the cleanliness, the clerk just stared and asked if I needed anything besides the sheets. The sheets we got didn't even fit. There were no extra blankets, comforters, or towels either. Dead bugs were in the corners, drain flies were buzzing around, and a large gap beneath the rotted door seemed to let them in. Mold covered the shower crevices and curtains. Now my original review seems to be getting removed and replaced with paid positive reviews. It's hard to understand how this place has a rating above two stars.

The place looked fine from outside, but inside it was awful. We saw four roaches in our room in daylight with the lights on, then had to move because it was so bad. The next room had no heat, and I was told most rooms were like that. There was about a two-inch gap under the door letting cold air in. Orlando was below 30 degrees during that cold front, so I asked for a space heater. They said one would arrive the next day, but after waiting all day, it still hadn't come. I asked again around 4, and it finally showed up at 10 at night. Breakfast's only hot option was waffles, which my kids usually love. But the batter was so watered down that the waffles came out full of holes, doughy, flavorless, and falling apart. They wouldn't eat them. The hotel is near a lot of things, but a median means you have to drive all the way around to reach the other side of the road. At $45 a night, it wasn't worth it. I asked for a refund and was told no, but that they could keep moving me. After the roaches, who'd want to stay? We cut our vacation short. Staff were unprofessional, and whenever I went to the office there were more guests complaining. I wish I'd paid a little more for somewhere else. Never staying here again.

The location and pool were the only things I liked. The property smelled like wet dog even though every room is supposedly non-smoking, and it was dirty and loud. Big gaps under the doors looked wide enough for bugs or other critters to get in. I wouldn't use the blankets, and the sheets looked disgusting. Check for bedbugs before booking. The rooms were also out of code, with smoke detectors that didn't work. Service at the front desk was just as bad. The clerks were rude, dismissive, and didn't treat women respectfully. You have to go ask at the desk for soap, toilet paper, or extra towels. They don't take out the trash, even if you leave it by the door, and don't expect any towels to be provided. The online photos must be old, from before new owners took over. Breakfast was filthy too. The bread container was left wide open, and who knows how long the bread had been sitting there?

For the price, it was pretty good. The bed was comfortable and there were no bugs. I liked having a two-burner induction stove. Small issues: no coffee maker in the room, nowhere to put soap in the shower, and the bathroom door needs fixing.
