Days Inn by Wyndham Kittery

The bed was comfortable, but I wouldn't stay here again. The bathroom was outdated and dirty, including the grout, mirror, and the area around the fan. A wall plate covering an electrical receptacle had just one screw and masking tape holding its side. There were marks all over the walls and stains on the hallway carpet, things that should be easy to clean.

We needed two rooms for two nights in the same week after rain drove us out of our campsite, and my family appreciated the stay. The inn clearly needs updating, but it was quiet apart from the neighbors settling in for a little while, which we expect. The tub drained well, there were plenty of towels brought over with a friendly manner, and the bathroom fan and walls were free of the dust and grime we'd seen at a more expensive local resort gifted to us a month earlier. Soft lighting throughout was nice. We'd recommend the inn and stay again.

We booked online at the last minute, then I read the reviews and got nervous. It isn't fancy or modern, but our deluxe double was very spacious for five of us, two adults and kids aged 11, 10, and 8. It was clean except for a few stray hairs that weren't ours, and we didn't see mold or bugs. Breakfast gave us a good start, even if it wasn't fancy: corn flakes, fruit loops, strawberry banana yogurt, bananas, oatmeal packets, mini muffins, mini frosted cinnamon buns, English muffins, wheat and white bread, peanut butter, apple or grape jelly, coffee, tea, and apple and orange juice. We paid a last-minute rate, booking 36 hours ahead during peak summer season on the coast, and thought it was very good value. We didn't use the pool, but it was clean and working. A nice place if all you need is somewhere to sleep and clean up.

We stopped here on the way home while exploring Maine's East coast, and after our awful stay at the Beach Motel & Suites in Old Orchard Beach, this room felt like a relief. It was very spacious, and the woman at the desk was patient and kind. With only two rooms left, she showed us both so we could choose. The room had what we needed, though it was dated and a few shower fixes were obvious, including towel bars and a couple of broken tiles. Breakfast was basic, just coffee and carbs. We had a good stay.
