Nothing about the room felt clean. There were no towels, the mattress sagged on one side, and the whole bed sat at least four inches off the frame. The microwave was filthy, and the refrigerator door was missing all its racks and shelves. At least the room seemed free of bed bugs. The website price was about $80 less than what I was charged, and I couldn’t understand the desk clerk. I’m very disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend this place even for a “free” stay, and I’ll never come back, even if hell freezes over.

For $55 a night, you get what you get. Want better beds or a better TV? Go somewhere else. They do spray for bugs, and the lead housekeeper has been there 45 years and is prompt with service. The young Black man, I think he works maintenance, works very hard. The Black lady at the front desk wasn’t so nice, sorry, not sorry. The owners speak English well, and if you treat them with respect, they’re great in return. For the price, I can’t complain. Those are the facts.

The location is right in the heart of Knoxville, and the person who checked us in was really nice. Our room was clean, and although there was no coffee maker, the office had coffee and juice available all day and night. There wasn’t a remote when we arrived, but the manager sorted that out right away. The big problem was the heater and AC. The AC leaked overnight, then when we turned on the heat in the morning it gave off an awful smell and set off the smoke alarm at 6:30. The person in the office that morning wasn’t helpful.

I’m sitting under a tree beside the hotel until 3 p.m., waiting to be allowed to check in. Getting in early can sometimes cost extra, and the last hotel I stayed at gave me a break. The people at Days Inn didn’t, even though they knew what was going on and we’d talked about it. The short man with dark hair and a tan, and the woman without a tan, were neither kind nor understanding. That pre-check-in treatment left such a bad feeling that I wanted to say something in case it saves someone else the same trouble. I won’t choose this location again, and I’m making calls to spread the word about how mean people can be. Good luck, Days Inn. Everybody reaps what they sow. Seed, time, harvest.
