The view made it easy to overlook a couple of quirks, and we’d stay here again. Our room was roomy, with two queens, a full kitchenette, a good-sized bathroom, and a balcony looking out over the ocean. The location was convenient, parking was available on both sides of the building, and the staff were attentive and very friendly. The amenities were good, too. A few details could use attention: the table chairs had badly worn upholstery, and the Roku TV seemed stuck at its home screen, possibly because of the remote. The door keypad was slow to wake up. We found it helped to press the check mark, wait a few seconds for the noise to stop, enter the code sent around 3:45 pm on check-in day, then press the check mark again. One thing to know before heading upstairs: hotel services are remote, but the shared front desk is next door in the blue The Admiral's Quarters building. The door code won’t work until you pay the $3 plus tax local fee, which wasn’t added to our online bill, though it was mentioned somewhere during booking. Park, pay the roughly $3.74 there, then go to your room. All told, it was worth our time and money. Thanks.

After moving my daughter out of college, we stayed at the Sand Dunes and had a really good visit. The hotel is right on the beach, with a few restaurants nearby, but it’s away from the crowds. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the AC worked great. We didn’t use the pool, though it looked clean and had nice furniture around it. We’ll be back.

We’ve been coming to The Sand Dunes for years, and it usually feels like our home away from home. The staff were polite and attentive again this time, but the room was a letdown. After walking on the carpet for about an hour, our socks were black. I know sand gets tracked into these pet-friendly rooms, but this was too much. The carpets badly need cleaning. We also paid $50 for early check-in. I hope next year’s stay is better. Thanks, Sherry Nelson.

I’m happy with the price and the experience for a basic place to sleep while spending vacation out and about. It’s a simple hotel, so don’t expect frills like the Ritz Carlton. Blackout curtains would have been nice, but their absence wasn’t a deal-breaker.

The staff we met were really nice and helpful, and the place suited our weekend. The storm waste removal system got in the way of the view. I understand why it’s needed, but I wish I’d known ahead of time. Parking was atrocious, and the rooms were small. The room with the dining table needed a nightstand. The pool shutting down around 4 p.m. on Sunday wasn’t appreciated, and the hotel needs an elevator for senior citizens.
