Greenwell Motel

The whole place had an ambience that reminded me of Grandma’s house, which I loved. The rooms were clean, and the beds and pillows felt so soft and comfy. I’d definitely stay here again.

For the price, this was the best bargain in the area, especially with only a very small fee for our dog. It’s an old motel, not the Hilton, so that’s how I’m judging it. We were in a quiet neighborhood, had a comfortable bed, plenty of coffee, tea, and cocoa pods for the Keurig, plus popcorn. The bathroom was old and showed its many repairs, but the value beat other nearby hotels.

We’ve stayed at the Greenwell Motel twice with pets, and both times the customer service was excellent. The rooms were clean and vintage inspired, and the owner was a delight to chat with. It’s conveniently close to downtown and feels very safe. We’ll definitely stay here again.

Check-in ends at 9 pm, so keep that in mind. This was the best value for money in La Grande, in a clean, safe, quiet part of town. We stayed here at both ends of a bike tour, and everything we needed, like coffee, a pub, and groceries, was close enough to reach by bike or on foot without crossing the freeway. The A/C, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker all worked, and the shower had good pressure and hot water. The gas station across the street was handy for late-night snacks. I loved the second room’s bathroom, it had so much green tile.
