Red Lion Inn & Suites La Pine

We paid almost $200 for one night, which felt way too expensive for the room and location. At check-in there was an unexpected deposit, even though we’d booked on their website. Then in the morning we were told we still owed $30, with no explanation. I made the reservation through the sonestra website, but staff said they never received it and that the company takes money from them. I’m not sure how that’s my fault.

My friend and I are young guys whose car broke down, and the front desk experience was enough to make me leave without staying. We had booked through priceline for $200, but the woman tried to charge us another $200, saying we’d booked a promotional price that was no longer available. I’m now reading the other reviews and understand why people have had bad experiences. The one-star reviews seem accurate to me, and I don’t trust the owner’s replies. Never stay here. Owner, sell while you can still make a profit. You shouldn’t be in this business.

We felt at risk here and would never stay again. The place had a bizarre, dangerous moral, and everything seemed focused on control. Management was abusive. These people are creepy. Don’t risk it.

We ended up getting a room at a nearby Best Western for a similar price, and it was much better than the Red Lion. We’d booked two nights through Agoda and arrived at 2 p.m. I told the Hispanic lady at the desk I’d come back later after she said we were early. She offered to do the paperwork then, but I said I’d handle it when I returned. I asked for a downstairs room because I’m 73 and have bad knees. She became argumentative, and after I said I’d mention her response in a review, she refused us a room entirely. She contacted Agoda and implied we had refused the room, which wasn’t true. Not a good experience. Beware, the people at Red Lion Inn LaPine are nasty.
