Holiday Inn La Verkin Zion Park by IHG

The rooms, hotel and pool looked great and were very clean, which was a big plus for us. Sleep was another story. The room got stuffy without enough airflow, and the AC was the loudest we’ve ever heard whenever it switched on and off. We could hear a lot through the walls, especially the neighbors showering or flushing. It sounded right beside us. Cleanliness and appearance: 5 stars. Loud AC and pipes, and the lack of sleep: 0.

This is a new, spotless hotel right on Hurricane-La Verkin Main Street, on the way to Zion Park. The room rate package that says breakfast is included is misleading, though. It covers two adults and children under 12, while everyone else costs $15 plus tax per person. Noise comes through the thin walls, and the bathroom water pressure is so low that showering feels uncomfortable. The buffet could use better tasting food and made-to-order choices for the $15 price.

We were in town for a robotic competition in Hurricane and were pleasantly surprised by how immaculate the Holiday Inn in La Verkin was. It was nicer than the options in Hurricane, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everyone on staff was friendly and helpful. Robyn, the night clerk, was especially accommodating with our needs and requests, always with a bright, fun manner. We’ll definitely stay here again when we return for the beautiful scenery.

After lots of hikes in Zion, it was great to relax in the heated pool and hot tub. In March, the water was still warm even though it was around 40-45F outside. The hotel is about a 20-minute scenic drive from Zion, and the views around it were great. The place still feels brand new, with fresh, clean rooms and a really good design. Staff were kind and friendly. Breakfast was free, though it hadn’t been listed when we booked, and had lots of choices, better than average for IHG. The lobby restaurant was good too, with very reasonable $10 specialty drinks like margaritas and old fashioneds, and very good food. For a national parks trip, this was probably the best hotel we’ve stayed in. Great value, hard to imagine better.
