Zion's Camp and Cottages

We ended up making other plans and driving through Zion at 11 pm, with deer all around, because we weren't going to stay after that experience. The place was dirty too, and we have pictures. We had driven five hours and arrived at 9 pm, only to find a note on the door saying the power would be out from 11 pm until 5 am. Nobody had called or texted us ahead of time. I called the person in charge hoping for a solution, maybe compensation or even a simple apology and an offer of what they could do. Instead, she accused me of yelling, which I wasn't doing. She said she wouldn't be compensated when the power went out at her home, then told me we weren't staying for free. I wasn't asking for a free stay. I wanted a kind conversation and advance notice so I could decide whether to find somewhere else. She hung up and wouldn't answer Expedia's calls to sort it out. I later called the power company and learned the property had been notified six days earlier. It felt like she chose to be greedy and rude instead of giving guests the choice.

After that first call, they wouldn't answer calls or texts. There are yurt-like tents on the east side of Zion that are clean and comfortable, with a hot tub, and well worth the drive.

The bathrooms were really clean, and so were the fridge and microwave. There was a bunk bed available, and parking was great. I loved staying here and would come back when I'm in the area.

The person named Julie was downright rude. She ignored my three-year-old son when he was asking for a smile. At first the stay seemed lovely, but then the cabins started smelling like sewage. We also heard loud bangs while walking nearby. I thought I might be imagining it, but my children heard them too. We ran back to the cabin, and the banging was still audible all night. It was a horrible experience, and I wouldn't recommend staying here.
