Half Moon Motel & Cottages

The room was great, and the place is right across from the weirs beach. The service and staff were absolutely amazing, especially Kathy and Steve. 10/10, I’d definitely visit again.

The view and location are great, so I might give one of the cottages another try someday. The motel room was a big disappointment, though. The bed was uncomfortable and I couldn’t sleep, and the shower took about five minutes before the water got hot. There was just one outlet, behind the couch.

The woman at the desk was very nice, check-in was pleasant, and the room was clean with a nice view. But after going out for the evening, we came back wanting a shower and there was no hot water. It still wasn’t hot the next morning. Around 9:00 am, just as we were getting ready to check out, it finally came through. When I reported it to the desk, all I got was, “I’ll tell the guys.” I hope they fix it for the next guest, but it felt like the paid guest checking out didn’t matter. Very disappointing.

My car broke down on the side of the road, so I had to cancel, and I lost almost $250, the deposit was $233 or whatever the amount was. This happened within nine days of the booking, and the owners gave no grace under the cancellation policy. The manager was very sweet and I appreciated her response, but I can’t believe I spent that much on a place I never saw and never will see. If you have any problem at all close to your stay, whether it’s car trouble, a sick child, or even your dog dying, be aware that you could lose the whole deposit. If life goes perfectly, the policy won’t hurt you. Otherwise, tread carefully. I didn’t see any humanity from the owners when I needed it.
