Best Western Pioneer Inn

The location is convenient for food and activities, with a variety of things to do, including day and evening cruises, just a one-minute stroll away. The room was clean but cramped. The lanai is shared with neighboring rooms, and the walls around the door and AC are thin and poorly insulated, so it isn't a good choice for a romantic evening. The bathroom shelves make the layout odd, and tall people should be aware. We arrived in Lahaina exhausted after travel trouble, and the place was crowded. It wasn't clear which side of the hotel had the entrance; most of the lower level is shops, and the entrance is on the water side. After driving around for a while, we gave up, paid for two days at a nearby lot, and walked back. The evening front desk woman chastised us for not using the "Active Harbor loading zone" to unload our bags. We thought that was for boats and the harbor, but she insisted it was for the hotel and asked why we'd paid when the hotel would cover parking. I hadn't been told parking was covered; there was nothing about it in the post-reservation emails or notifications. She just shook her head. The location was great, but otherwise I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The courtyard has a charming feel, and the pool wasn't crowded. Though the rooms are older, ours was very clean and well equipped. The hotel is right by the wharf and conveniently placed for lots of restaurants and shops. Check-in and checkout were effortless. The front desk team were the highlight: Mark, Samantha, Kylie, and Pat were incredibly friendly and ready to help however they could. I look forward to coming back.

The location makes it so easy to walk to restaurants and shops, and the lanais are just right. The rooms are modest but nicely equipped, with comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and coffee. The staff gave us really great service, and the atmosphere is fantastic. If resorts aren't your thing, this place may suit you, with no screaming children. They apparently have a great chef at the restaurant. We didn't get to eat there, but it smelled good and was busy every time we saw it. Maybe we'll stop in next time.

The courtyard is dreamy, and the inn even has a talking parrot named Alex. It's on Front Street, so most restaurants and beaches are an easy walk away. During our five-night Maui visit, we had a clean, decent-sized room with a lanai, two rocking chairs, and a table. Room service is available on request. Kiley welcomed us warmly at check-in, explained the parking process (parking is free), walked us through the amenities and hotel map, and pointed out nearby restaurants and shops. Everyone at the front desk was friendly and welcoming. What a beautiful historic inn. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone staying in West Maui.
