I called the number on the hotel website and booked two adjoining rooms, but at check-in they gave me keys to two rooms that weren’t connected. They said I’d booked through Expedia, after I’d already paid. Expedia promptly told me the purchase was non-refundable. I didn’t stay. You’re better off sleeping in your car, and you shouldn’t stay here either.

I drove from northern New Jersey to Lake City, SC, arriving at the Days Inn on Ron McNair Blvd. around 5 p.m. on April 3, 2026, after a twelve-hour drive. The lobby was locked. I looked through the glass doors and window, saw nobody, rang the bell twice, then waited about ten minutes. A man came to a glass door from outside, told me to come around, and let me in. He asked for my name and ID, but there was no greeting or apology. I asked if the property closed at certain times. He said someone was always there or nearby, then explained that the woman had gone to the bank. She came in while he was checking me in. They spoke about her absence, and when he said a guest had been waiting, she replied, “that’s fine,” in a way that felt dismissive. I quietly said it wasn’t fine, but trailed off. She erupted, yelling that emergencies happen and I needed to understand that. She said there must be something wrong with me if I didn’t understand emergencies, insisted she hadn’t been talking to me, and accused me of butting into their conversation. I told her I understood emergencies because I’d had one myself. I’d needed the restroom after the long drive, but I’d had no chance to check in and use the one in my booked room. I spoke carefully because she was so hostile. She got louder, said my tiredness wasn’t her problem, and pointed out that there was no restroom in the lobby. She even explained the property had been built without one. When I said a paying guest could have used the restroom in their room if they’d been checked in on arrival, she got even angrier. She came toward me quickly, shouted that she wouldn’t be lectured, and said I could leave if I didn’t want to stay. She asked directly if I wanted to stay. I asked whether they wanted my business. After three or four seconds of silence, she said, “Okay, so you are staying because you don’t have a choice.” That was completely wrong, and after all the disrespect I’d faced, I left without another word. I came back to ask for a copy of the document I’d signed and to request cancellation. By then she’d calmed down, but said she couldn’t cancel because I’d booked through Expedia. I consider the $378.92 a paid advertisement to warn people about the risks of staying at the Days Inn and the Quality Inn in Lake City, SC. If this saves even one person from the indignity I went through, sharing my experience was worth the price.

The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable, so at least I got some rest. I’d asked for a king on the first floor, but found two twin beds instead. The man at the desk hadn’t mentioned the change. I was tired, so I stayed. I arrived around 5 p.m. in pouring rain on an off-season Monday, after paying $150. Nobody was available, so I rang the bell and a grumpy voice said he’d be there in a minute. I waited eight minutes in the rain before he showed up in a vehicle. He hadn’t been on site at a common check-in time. Check-in felt tense, with no smile or friendliness. I commented that the breakfast spread looked nice and got a grunt. He went through the rules sternly, listing what I couldn’t do and what I’d be charged for. I went to the lobby at 6:30 a.m. hoping for the breakfast, but found an empty room and a sign saying it didn’t open until 8. I was traveling for work and would be an hour away by then. There was no hospitality, and it felt like my being there was a hassle. For what they charge, I expected a friendlier experience. It’s very overpriced for a bare-bones place to sleep, with no service or hospitality.

They lie about which rooms are available and still take your money. I was also charged an extra $100. The customer service was horrible, and the charges seem shady. Be careful, and save yourself the stress and money.

The room was modern, clean, and comfortable. Staff were very attentive whenever I had a concern.
