Tru By Hilton Wisconsin Dells

A pretty average stay. The room was clean and everything worked, and the staff were friendly. The door did get oddly difficult to open once it was about 70% of the way open. Tru locations all seem to follow the same basic design. The shuffleboard table was a fun surprise, since I hadn’t seen one at a Tru before. Breakfast was simple, with cereal, juice, breads, and a neat pancake machine; nothing fancy, but everything was kept filled. Security asked for a form listing the car and license, apparently because people sometimes use the lot without staying at the hotel. No problems during our visit.

I’m writing this while I’m still staying here, and this second visit has been very disappointing. My first stay was great, which is why I booked again. The hotel is clean and well located, and I thought it was dog friendly. After we’d been gone for just 20 minutes, the hotel called to say someone had complained that my dogs were barking. They told me that if another complaint came in, I’d have to come pick them up. Dogs bark. If normal dog behavior is a problem, don’t advertise the place as dog friendly. I paid extra to bring them because I wanted them to have a little vacation too. I’d happily take them everywhere, but plenty of places don’t allow pets.

After a seven-hour drive into the night, choosing Tru by Hilton was the best decision I could’ve made. The rooms were very nice and clean, and we were impressed by how tidy everything was. Staff were welcoming, and the breakfast and dining area were a lot of fun. At a more than reasonable price, we’d definitely stay again. 9/10.

There’s a coffee pot and tea in the lobby, though the room has no coffee maker or tea bags. Breakfast was fine, with eggs and meat, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, juices, and a nice pancake machine. The rooms are modern and minimal. There are enough hooks for hanging things, but no closets, drawers, or cupboards. They don’t provide a pen or paper either; the front desk confirmed that. The room was clean, and the bed was okay.
