The Galleria at Split Rock, Lake Harmony

The front desk staff were friendly and professional. I overheard other guests complaining and can only imagine what they deal with. Management was nowhere to be seen, but the young staff did what they could to apologize and keep the kids smiling. We booked an end-of-school-year family trip expecting outdoor activities and a pleasant place to relax. We spent no time outside because the grounds were overgrown and neglected, including the lake area and the listed outdoor activities. The website and photos aren’t up to date. The indoor water park was closed for most of our stay. When it opened on our last day, only the wave pool was available, and bugs that I believe were roaches were crawling out of most chairs. The whole area was run down. There was only one food area in the lobby, not multiple restaurants. We made the best of a poor choice, and hope this helps another family choose somewhere else.

Check-in took two whole hours, just standing in line in the lobby. The front desk was rude, though honestly I understand they must get complaints all day. Once we were in, no one came to clean the room, so we had to pile our trash in the hallway. Run, run, run. Most of the water park was shut down, and the water was freezing. The hot tubs were dirty and visibly disgusting. Our room was 54 degrees because, they said, propane was low, and the heat didn’t work. The movie theater looked like a horror film, with every chair broken or covered in trash, and the racquetball room ceiling was falling down. The sauna worked, which surprised me, since staff told me there wasn’t one. Everything was broken, dirty, or scary. If you’re tempted by the cheap price and think the place might be fun despite its age and issues, don’t do it.

The on-site restaurants were excellent, and there was a good mix of games in the arcade. The bowling alley was great too, and the small indoor water park was adequate. It’s a good low-budget option for a weekend getaway. The location was great, and our room was large, clean, and spacious. The TV didn’t work right, there was no daily room service, and one elevator was out. I stayed at the slipeslide location, which is a good distance from the town center. The hallways looked run down and could use a fresh renovation.

Louis and Dustin were so helpful, kind, and welcoming that we felt right at home. We had an amazing stay and will definitely come back. We loved playing the games, and bowling was a great deal at just 8 dollars per person.
