The lakefront location was perfect, and the slower pace outside summer made the visit just right. Walking the path around the island is a great way to get some exercise. We had a great time.
We always enjoy our Resort, the only one in Arizona, right on the water. Sheryl, Lori and Atilla are wonderful and always so helpful! 🥰
The cabins were super clean, and the views were breathtaking. The whole stay left us with great memories.
The resort side was understanding and pet friendly, but my experience with the first cabin club, the timeshare side, was very different. They accused me a few days into the trip of bringing pets without permission, even though I'd already disclosed that my kitten was an ESA and that I was traveling with a registered service dog. They ridiculed me about having a disability and nearly made me cry, as if I couldn't be disabled because I don't physically look like I have one. It almost ruined an afternoon, and they threatened a $200 pet fee without ever clarifying whether they'd actually charge it. They never asked if I needed help, either. I really did need help with my bags, and no one offered at check-in or checkout, even though I said I had a service dog. I called two weeks before booking and before paying to explain my disability, service animal, and request to bring my kitten. The front desk at The Nautical was understanding and put me at ease, saying they thought it was cute that I'd bring the kitten with my service dog. I'm already unable to boat or jet ski because of my situation, and this was one of my first trips since being badly injured in an accident with a drunk driver. I was trying to make up for a canceled vacation that was meant to celebrate my 30th birthday. :( The cleaning rules were another source of stress. A bright green memo in the suite laid out unfriendly, strict requirements: towels had to go in a particular spot under the vanity, dishes had to be done, the thermostat set a specific way, and all trash removed from every bin. It felt like being expected to do the maid's job. I've worked in guest services, customer service, and housekeeping at resorts, and this level of responsibility for guests who are paying to relax is insane. I worried they'd fine me for not cleaning enough and took photos when I left to prove I'd cleaned. I've never had to wipe everything down, do dishes, vacuum, and sweep before checkout at a resort, yet they made me feel pressured to do it. I also spent about three hours cleaning before I could unpack and settle in. There is no maid service, and we got just one set of clean towels. The room had scratches and stains on everything, including the toilet seat, and a ring of poop in the bottom of the toilet, as if it hadn't been cleaned properly. It was clear they don't deep clean the rooms. Why charge resort and cleaning fees while requiring guests to do so much? If we'd known about these bizarre standards, we never would have booked.
We gave it two stars because it was right on the beach and the weather was in the 70s. We won't be back. The room was small and disgusting, with hair all over the bathroom and the uncleaned Jacuzzi tub. They hadn't vacuumed when they cleaned, and neighbors said they had learned to clean the place themselves when they arrived. That's not my idea of a vacation. Staff were only there Monday to Friday, 8 to 4, so on weekends or after hours we were out of luck if we needed anything. Laundry cost extra, and the internet was so poor that I had to call four times to get it working. They let small black water birds, The Coots, into the pool, leaving poop all over and in it. Disgusting, with disease potential. I doubt the Health Department would approve.
