Wyndham Resort at Fairfield Mountains

We liked being able to get away without agents on site asking us to attend a meeting or update information. The mattresses were our only complaint, though. They definitely weren’t like the usual Wyndham mattresses at other resorts. It was our first time at this location, and it made for a lovely little mountain getaway. With western North Carolina rebuilding, detours made the trip a bit out of the way.

We felt stuck with the TV until Carroll in maintenance kindly showed us how to use the firestick to access it. He was also so helpful and kind about collecting our trash. Thank you, Carol, for being professional and sharing your knowledge.

The location was nice, but the room needs some updating, and the trim is rotting and should be replaced. Getting our keys came with the usual timeshare hassle. We were on the second floor, with neighbors beside and above us; the noise overhead sounded like elephants until 1 a.m. Security was around for just one day. Wi-Fi stayed down for our whole visit, and customer service didn't seem to care.

The facility looked appealing, but a sales interaction left a bad mark on the stay and changed how I view Wyndham. I had said I was interested in membership, yet was left out of the pitch and then asked whether my companion might be interested. I explained that the other person wasn't. The representative then suddenly said they couldn't sell to me because of my address and gave no further explanation. I can't help wondering whether this was discrimination based on race or financial status.
