La Quinta Inn & Suites Orlando Lake Mary

The pool and hot tub were great, and everything looked really clean. The hotel is in a beautiful spot, too. I asked at the front desk if it was new, since it looked that way, and was surprised to hear it had been built 30 years ago. Just remember breakfast runs from 6 to 9 a.m., since the staff member forgot to mention that. And for anyone running late, there’s no maid knocking on your door right at 11. LOL.

There was plenty of parking, though from my room at the back of the building I could definitely hear traffic. Inside, the room was clean, and the staff were very nice and accommodating. I did have to track down housekeeping because there were no towels, but it was no big deal. Breakfast had the usual range of choices.

The breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful, though there’s only so much they can do. When we arrived, the toilet didn’t work, and the pull-out bed had food all over it. We asked twice to have it made up. The hot tub was also out of order for all three days we were there. Staff fixed each problem, and any one of them alone would’ve been no big deal, but they just kept piling up.

The room was fine after we moved, but getting there took three calls before I finally had to ask management to switch us. We’d booked a suite, room 426, and cigarette smell poured out of the bathroom vent in this supposedly non-smoking hotel. It made the whole room stink. Management said they investigated but found nothing, sprayed something, and left. The original room also had a loose, wonky sink, and the bedroom door handle came completely off. Wouldn’t recommend.
