Hilton Vacation Club Lake Tahoe Resort

The beds are very comfortable, and the location is great. There's ample shuttle service, and the staff are really friendly and handle requests promptly. I'd rate the rooms a 3. The kitchen is tiny, has no counter space, isn't well equipped, and has almost no storage for groceries. Cooking for a family is difficult. There isn't a smart TV either, so bring a laptop and HDMI cable, or connect your phone via HDMI if you want to stream.

The expensive valet parking is mandatory, and resort fees are added on top. Together, those charges start to feel like a bit of a scam. For the price, this was one of my most disappointing stays in South Lake Tahoe. The room looked old and dated, the bed felt small, and the whole place was tired and underwhelming. I'm a Hilton Gold member, but my status was essentially ignored. The hotel seemed half empty, yet I was assigned a room as far from the front desk as possible. When I asked about other rooms, I was told any change or upgrade would cost extra, which says a lot about how they treat guests. With the old rooms, high rates, no recognition of loyalty status, and all those added charges, it isn't worth it to me. I won't stay here again and would strongly recommend somewhere else in South Lake Tahoe.

The rooms were spacious and had a small kitchenette. The property is near the water and decently well maintained, though it definitely isn't new. There are good amenities, including grills and picnic areas. The pool isn't huge, but it's fine for laps or a soak in the hot tub. Parking is quite expensive, and there's also a resort fee. I used the AMEX Hilton Aspire Resort credit here, and it was a pretty good use of it. I emailed the front desk to reach the finance department and prepaid for the stay to use the first half of the yearly hotel credit. Then I used the second half during the stay.

The location and amenities were nice: heated indoor/outdoor pool and spas, a fitness room, and a bar/restaurant. The staff who weren't involved with timeshares were friendly. Our room, though small, had no view, took forever to walk to, and was adequate. The valet setup, included in the mandatory daily fees, also meant long waits at peak times. I can't say what this hotel is like without an exchange, but I doubt I'd return. We stayed for a week last week, Jan 2026, through an RCI exchange. The main problem was the aggressive timeshare pitch. We're reluctant owners because ours was inherited from the 1980's. Pro tip, never EVER get a timeshare, they're impossible to get rid of. RCI exchange isn't what it used to be either. After a very long day of cross country travel, I was funneled into a “VIP” check-in and kept there for almost 30 minutes just trying to get to my room. They only let me leave after I signed up for a timeshare presentation, even after I said my husband probably wouldn't go because both spouses had to attend. They offered a room upgrade and more if he decided to do it, but we canceled the presentation once we finally reached our non-upgraded room. Later I got a phone message threatening to charge me for an upgrade I never received because we'd canceled. I lost sleep over it, and the whole thing left a bitter taste about the resort.
